LIANNE

Lianne was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2008. Despite a double mastectomy and other precautionary measures, she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in June 2010 when it returned in her chest wall and neck.  After enduring a myriad of treatments that included four rounds of chemotherapy and two of radiation, in July 2011 it became known the cancer had spread into her brain, lungs and liver.
On September 20, 2011 Lianne passed away at 34 years old.

This site was originally used  as a vehicle for Lianne’s friends and family to help fund an alternative* treatment program after it became clear the three years of conventional** treatments she had been taking could not save her.

Lianne’s friends and family came together in an amazing way.  Friends put on two fundraisers and donations came in through the website.  In an extremely short time enough funds were available to support several consultations, local adjunct treatments and a trip to Reno to personally consult with the head doctor of her integrative health care team.  Lianne responded well to the alternative treatments she was able to take at home, so much so that she was able to attend one of the fundraisers herself.

Unfortunately shortly after visiting Reno Lianne came down with a routine infection that her immune system just could not fight.  Lianne passed away September 20, 2011.

Not everyone has the support Lianne did.  Treatments not covered by health care insurance can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars and upward, especially if travel to another country is involved.

The purpose of the Lianne Hanson Hope Fund is to raise funds to provide grants to late-stage hereditary breast and ovarian cancer victims to cover a consultation and/or a portion of the cost to obtain primary or adjunct treatments of choice,  where there is a charge for such service.

*alternative for this purpose is defined as anything not covered by health care insurance

**conventional is defined as treatments prescribed and/or available as covered by health care insurance
